We Speak Insurance

Your house is probably your most valuable asset, and you have insurance to help protect it. Often, it is helpful to have the experience of a seasoned contractor available when creating a Scope of Work and Estimate for the initial mitigation and post-water damage repairs and restoration.  As a normal part of our water mitigation and restoration process, Damage Doctors will perform an on-site or virtual walk-through and correspond with your insurance adjuster to identify and discuss all of the damaged areas.

Throughout the entire claims-handling and restoration process, we provide photo documentation to and communicate with your insurance adjuster and agent to maintain transparency and eliminate delays to completion. We also utilize the same industry approved Restoration Software, Xactimate, as all the major insurance companies.

The 3 Step Process of Water Mitigation and Restoration

STEP 1: After the source of the water has been addressed and fixed, THE DRYING PROCESS should begin immediately! We use state-of-the-art equipment and rapid structural drying techniques to remove standing water and moisture from walls, floors, ceilings, crawl spaces and cabinetry. We also restore water-damaged carpets, furniture and personal belongings. Our Mold Remediation Service thoroughly detects potentially dangerous fungus even from hidden areas and removes it safely, without spreading mold spores.

This initial effort is to minimize your damage and insurance claim. This is the most important part of the process and your Insurance Company usually requires the homeowner to take action quickly to start this process.

STEP 2: The PROPERTY INSPECTION is an important second step in getting your restoration underway. Using the most accurate industry tools available, we will assess the extent of the damage and provide a Scope of Work outlining the necessary steps needed for restoration, and a Repairs Estimate to you and your Insurance Company using Xactimate Restoration Software.

STEP 3: We offer a unique “turnkey” service. This means once the source of the water has been stopped and the area is dry, we can provide any Repairs or Put-Back to get you back to normal or pre-loss condition with the least amount of stress to you and your family.

Street Flooding

Water damage categories refer to the range of contamination found in water:

White Water (also known as Clean Water). White water damage does not pose a substantial health concern. The most common instances of white water damage are caused by overflowing sinks, leaking appliances, or burst pipes. This is also the easiest category of water damage to fix.

Grey Water. Grey water comes from a source that may cause sickness when exposed to or consumed. This may be water from a toilet bowl, or other sources that have been exposed to relatively mild chemicals or toxins. Grey water should be treated with caution, and needs to be handled quickly and safely by a professional.

Black Water. The third and most serious type of water source is black water. While not necessarily black in color, black water is completely unsanitary. Generally, water from any type of flooding, be it river/rain water or seawater, is classified as black water and contains harmful bacteria.

It may be difficult to tell by looking at it whether water damage is the result of clean, grey, or black water. For that reason you should always contact a qualified water damage repair contractor to assess the situation.
